School Description
The Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Apprenticeship Program is a four-year program that combines full-time, 'on-the-job', employment training with 576 hours of classroom instruction. This program was developed in cooperation with the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT), U.S. Department of Labor, and its nationally-recognized curriculum is continually undergoing review and updating.

During their formal apprenticeship period, the apprentice is assigned to work in residential, commercial and industrial environments as an inside wireman. The classroom instruction includes studies in: Mathematics, Safety, Electrical Theory, Electrical Circuits, Electrical Wiring Methods, National Electrical Code, Ohm's Law, AC and DC Theory, Blueprint Reading, Motor Controls, Transformers, and Solid State Controls.

Upon successful completion of this four-year program, the apprentice receives a certificate from the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training U.S. Department of Labor. This certificate is recognized throughout the United States as proof that the holder is a highly trained and skilled electrician. In addition to this certificate the apprentice also qualifies for 42 credit-hours from the Community Colleges of Colorado.
